Learn the art of fly casting through personalized, unhurried instruction—and experience the joy of learning something new.

With nearly twenty years of fly fishing experience, Mike has become grounded in the joy of connecting with nature and sharing his passion with others.
Teaching people to fly cast grew naturally from that passion. Every lesson is an opportunity to slow down, learn something new, build confidence, and experience the peaceful rhythm of fly casting.

“Teaching people to fly cast was born from a desire to share the Spirit and connection I discovered on the water.”
Whether you’re brand new to fly fishing, looking to refine your technique, or simply searching for a relaxing outdoor experience — every lesson is shaped around you. We move at your pace, on a quiet stretch of grass beside the river.
Times and locations will be arranged mutually.

Fly casting teaches patience, presence, and play — at any age
Practice makes improvement
I encourage students to return for occasional tune-up lessons to keep their fundamentals — and their Spirit — strong.

Kind words from students who've spent a morning on the water with us.
“I was a true beginner. Mike was very good at showing me the basics. How do I stand, hold the rod, arm position, movements, awareness of rod motion. His gift of coaching helped bring me back to the fundamentals and I was rewarded when the cast occasionally went just right.”
“A life’s bucket list completed with coaching from Mike on fly casting prior to our fly fishing excursion on the Minum and Grande Ronde Rivers of Oregon. His patience and passion in coaching us made all the difference as we made our way down the rivers to catch. I highly recommend Mike’s teachings in this arena.”
“Was very impressed with the class. Mike’s approach helped me realize there's more than the actual casting technique.”
“I've been coming to southern oregon to fish for many years. Thanks to Mike, the transition to fly casting was made easier by his patient, knowledgeable tutelage. I would highly recommend Mike to anyone new to fly casting or if you simply want to brush up on your skills.”
